new book

247 Swedish craft artists was released last week.
I´m on page 153.
Marie Louise Sundquist on page 303
Karin Eriksson on page 220
Paula Lindblom on 172
Together with the 243 others it's pretty heavy. Familiar names, some I haven't seen for a while and many new to me, too.

Both in Swedish and English. It can be ordered from the publisher's website here (SEK 298) and will be for sale at Konstepidemin's Christmas market December 12 - 16.

It's time to slow down and enjoy more now, I'll do my best. Wish you the same!

trees

Top photo is my favorite Mizue Ogiso piece from the show she and Mitsuhiro Ikeda have at Konstepidemin now, until December 14. They are staying in one of the guest studios for the second time, nice to have them back. (The other tree is also from the Konstepidemin yard)

From last Saturday, Patrik Andiné open studio

Thankful for Friday. Time to eat ginger cookies and light candles and stars. Wish you a joyful weekend.

south african visit

Yesterday, first snow.

Quick, much too quick, visit by South African artists yesterday. They are exhibiting at Frölunda Kulturhus: Dolla Sapeta, Ayanda Mji, and Alan Grobler from Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. James Malinga is also part of the show.
Photo from neighbor Per's studio, guess he was happy to get inside from the cold for a moment.

The small world: Ayanda is a ceramic sculptor and we immediately found connection in Priscilla Mouritzen and the ceramic center in Skaelskør, where we've both enjoyed being.

garlands and wreaths show

The wreath show is lovely, if I may say so being part of it. Nina Zetterquist and Kerstin Åsling-Sundberg are wreath craft lovers and did a great job arranging the pieces. Wish we have a wreath show every year, with more artists involved, it's inspiring and playful.

From the top: Blå Huset overview, Amalia Kenamets, Nina Zetterquist Kristin Lavransdotter crown, Kerstin Åsling-Sundberg and bottom my latest ceramic garland.
More photos will come.

Camilla's show opened and there is an interview (in Swedish).

december season beginning

November preparations for December is hectic. Last week, when picking up some of my work at Nääs konsthantverk, a walk by the lake. Life saving. At Nääs konsthantverk they prepared for the Christmas show that opened on Saturday. Looked promising.

I was at Konstepidemin for another opening, will post more from that next week.
Rogerts Bondesson had open studio, among other things.

wreath season

Seems to be two major seasons for wreaths and garlands, midsummer and christmas time. On Saturday November 22 opens a show at Konstepidemin, Blå Huset. Three textile artist: Nina Zetterquist, Kerstin Åsling Sundberg and Amalia Kenamets and ceramic me show very different wreaths and garlands. Based on tradition but not always traditional.

Photos above from textile artist Nina Zetterquist's studio. Open the door and it smells of materials and possibilities.

Camilla opens her show in Halmstad on Saturday (if you missed). Best of luck, of course!

light and shadows

Every other day-weather here, this morning we have rain and storm again.

Realized I've stressed myself into believing I had one week less than I actually have, to finish major deadlines. Now it feels like holidays to have so much time.

sneak peek

This is another work occupying my mind and making me so busy: sketch elements for a competition. Will show more after next week when it is ready and presented for the commissioners. Wish me luck!

Even if sketching never is a waste of time - ideas nurtures ideas- I would really, really like to do this work for real and not just on paper. As you might guess, there will be some mosaic.

Seeing the image and the banner together almost made me sea sick, must change as soon as there is more time.

Håkan Sandsjö told me that the Salvation Army runs his Julklappsapparaten (clever fund raising Christmas gift machine in Swedish) this year again. Time to plan Christmas gifts!

I will enjoy some studio work, I wish you whatever you need to have a great weekend!

all at once

There is a lot of work to do. Fun things but just a lot. All at once.
The mosaic commission is under control timewise, almost finished the second of four wall ieces. Tried grouting the first piece, doesn't that make a huge difference!

temple of dawn flowers

Wat Arun, Temple of dawn, lovely mosaic. Playful yet sacred. I hope you're not fed up with little pieces put together to something bigger; seems to be the theme of the season.

thai mosaic

Photos above from Bangkok a couple of years ago, Emerald Buddha temple area. I don't think I need to say how impressed I was. More to come next week.

And what a week this was; mowing between organizing office job final post water leak things (almost done), studio mosaic work (almost halfway finished) and panicking for not having good enough idea for a new commission sketch work. And one show opening last night, even if not a major one (went well, like a real nice after work, and my work appreciated).

I hope this weekend will bring new and better commission idea and lots of new energy. Wish you all good ideas and recreation too!

sun bathing —wish I was

Busy, busy days. Wish I could do like my neighbour's cat, seek the sun in a comfortable space.

Tomorrow opening of a small show I'm in, with the painter Bo Lindorm, at a combined gallery space/dentist's waiting room. Works surprisingly well together: Tandkliniken 1:4/Galleri Colon, Erik Dahlbergsgatan 14, between 5 and 8 p.m. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, welcome!
